The Sino-American Friendship Association (SAFA) promoted Chinese art and culture during the 2015 New Year’s Eve countdown in Time Square by featuring two amazing artists. This was the first time an aspect of Chinese ethnic culture, featuring Yunnan Culture, was a part of the ball dropping celebration since it began in 1907. The Sino-American Friendship Association sponsored a display of artwork called “The Crossroads of the World” by sculptor Xikun Yuan and painter and calligrapher Guansheng Luo across the ABC-TV Supersign LED screen on December 29, 2014 to January 1, 2015. This was located on screen all across the Time Square area. Xikun Yuan and Guansheng Luo’s work demonstrated to the world the Chinese people’s hardworking and thriving spirits. Their artwork also showed the viewers of the program the natural and beautiful landscape of China. SAFA hopes this artwork will strengthen the relationship between the United States and Chinese population and allow for both populations to further understand each other.
