"Beijing Travel Night" - China's Three Tenors Concert

The Sino-American Friendship Association (SAFA) co-hosted the "Beijing Travel Night – China Three Tenors Concert" on January 22, 2012 at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, New York. It was also a celebration of Chinese New Year’s Eve,The three famous Chinese tenors Dai, Yuqiang, Wei, Song and Warren Mok performed both western and Chinese songs to promote both the Chinese culture and the Beijing City culture to the American audiences. Their New York performance was the first depute of the China Three Tenors’ worldwide tour.

"Language could be a barrier, but music is a universal language that connects us without boundaries,” Li, Li, Executive Vice President of SAFA said at the event, "We hope that we can be a cultural ambassador and promote American and Chinese cultures in both countries." Scott Epstein, an attendee and also a friend of SAFA gushed to the event’s organizer, "It was an amazing concert, everything created for tonight was amazing and I feel like going to Beijing, China next week!" Charlotte Beyer also shared her experience that night with SAFA, "My husband and I were captivated by the very special evening with the three Chinese Tenors and we were spell bounded by the talents and the excitement that we shared with everyone else in the hall.”

Ambassador Wang, Ming, Deputy Representative of China to the United Nations; Deputy Consul General Xu, Nanshan, Deputy Consul General of Consulate General of the People's Republic of China; Mr. Wang, Yansheng, Culture Consul of Consulate General of the People's Republic of China; Mr. Yu, Debin, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Tourism Development; and Ms. Lv, Hailin, and the wife of Ambassador Li, Baodong, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations were among the attendees of the concert.
