2016 Empowering Women and Sustainable Development Summit

The "2016 Empowering Women and Sustainable Development Summit" was held on October 26, 2016 (Paris time) at UNESCO Headquarter in Paris, France. The "Summit" was hosted by China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF), co-hosted by Sino-American Friendship Association (SAFA), supported by United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization and Information Office of Nanjing Municipal Government. The "Summit" committed to empowering and inspiring women through exchanges and interactions in art and design between excellent women artists and designers all over the world, featuring exhibitions, charity auctions and high-level speeches and panel discussions. Eric Fault, Assistant Director-General for External Relations and Public Information at the UNESCO, Qingchao FANG, Deputy Permanent Delegate of China to UNESCO, Jianmin ZHANG, Deputy Secretary General of CWDF, Peter Zhang, President of SAFA, Zhengang PENG, Director-General of Information Office of Nanjing Municipal Government and other outstanding female executives all around the world attended the event.

Li Li, Executive Vice President of SAFA hosted the event. She indicated that Chinese women have been actively involved in politics, science, education, sports, environmental protection, art, charity, and national public welfare causes. Women who have achieved success should be put in the spotlight in order to inspire and influence others. Women empowerment can make great strides by acknowledging female pioneers in fashion, design, and art.
