The U.S. and Chinese Experts Join
“2022 US-China Integrated Western and Chinese Medicine Symposium”

In order to promote and strengthen support for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) exchanges internationally, further advance the integration of Western and Chinese Medicine, and provide all people with a more comprehensive healthcare system, the Committee of Medical Collaboration of the Sino-American Friendship Association and the US-China Center for TCM held a virtual “2022 US - China Integrated Western and Chinese Medicine Symposium” on August 25, 2022 at 8:00 PM EST. This top-notch virtual symposium focused on exploring the cutting-edge and integrative trend in West/East medical solutions for breast and gynecological oncology and female infertility with a deeper dive into TCM.

With a long history, the philosophy of the TCM has great impacts and enjoys a very bright future, said Counselor Zhou (second from right). He hoped to hold more similar activities to promote the integration of western and Chinese medicine and to promote scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation in various fields in the future to benefit us all. Co-Chair Li (second from left) believed that this Symposium would help to enhance the communications between medical professionals, understand different cultures and appreciate the friendship between countries.

A number of renowned experts and doctors participated in a hybrid panel discussion and the panelists shared their collective practices and insights to support oncology and fertility treatments, challenges, new treatment options and benefits.

Also attending the virtual symposium included Qiuming Han and Fang Xia, Consuls of the Chinese Consulate General in New York; Peter Zhang, President of the Sino-American Friendship Association; Dr. Rongsheng Lin, Vice Chairman of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies; Jun Hu, President of the American Association of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (AACMA) and Vice Chairman of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies; Dr. David Li, Clinical Director of the US-China Center for TCM and former president of the Federation of New York State Licensed Acupuncturists; Dr. Bin Luo, Professor of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and executive member of the Expert Committee of the US-China Center for TCM; Dr. Aina Zhang, from Quebec, Canada and is called the "Miracle Doctor" by the world singer Celine Dion and Dr. Santao Wang, Founder & President of the Chinese Medicine College of Quebec, Canada.

The partnership among healthcare officials, doctors, professors and researchers to discuss unique perspectives between Western and Chinese medicines is important in exploring various treatment options, said New York State Governor Kathy Hochul in a letter to organizers of the Symposium. "As we continue to work together to develop a more supportive healthcare system and a healthier world, it is vital as we continue these conversations," Hochul said.

New York City Mayor Adams mentioned in his Mayoral letter, a healthy city is a strong city, and my Administration is using every tool at its disposal to ensure all New Yorkers have access to quality health care and other essential resources they need to thrive. “As you gather to share knowledge and learn more about important medical research and innovations, I commend the organizers and participants of this event for their contributions to our vital health care sector. Together, we are forging a brighter, healthier, more prosperous future for all.”

US Congresswoman Grace Meng wrote in her congratulatory letter: “This event is an opportunity to raise awareness on how Western and Chinese medicines both offer unique perspectives fundamentals to healthcare today and works to foster collaboration between Western and Chinese medical experts to allow for better understanding of traditional Chinese medicine and its role in healthcare globally."

In addition to medical professionals from the US and China, the symposium was attended by more than 300 representatives of healthcare practitioners from North America, South America, Europe, Asia and other countries and regions, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Korea, Singapore, Australia, the Philippines and Hong Kong. The event also live-streamed on Facebook and Qihuang Healthcare.cn, allowing the public's access.
