American Chinese Commerce Development Association (ACCDA) and Sino-American Friendship Association (SAFA) hosted “2012 China-US Economic and Trade Cooperation Symposium New York” at Harvard Club in New York on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. The symposium was followed by a VIP Reception & Dinner celebrating the “5th Anniversary of American Chinese Commerce Development Association.”

“China-US Economic and Trade Cooperation Symposium” was designed to promote economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States, with the purpose of helping both enterprises to overcome the current global economic downturn, by exploring new areas and ways of cooperation. Jason Lin, the president of the American Chinese Commerce Development Association (ACCDA) stated that entrepreneurs are the foundation of the Chinese-American business relationship, and the joint effort between both countries is the primary motivation of this relationship. Both parties must maintain their countries’ business relationships and development to continue increasing their macroeconomic coordination, to effectively solve their economic and trade concerns, to strengthen common interests, and to expand opportunities for collaboration. Through economic and trade forums, special guests and scholars from China and the United States were invited to participate in in-depth exchanges on related topics, which proved to be extremely insightful

China’s Vice President Xi, Jin Ping said during his visit to the United States in February 2012, that consensus with the United States was expected to be consolidated to promote trust, to expand cooperation, to receive equal consultation opportunities, to employ the principle of reciprocity and dialogue to resolve both parties’ economic and trade frictions in order to safeguard the China-US economic and trade relations standard for the benefit of both countries. United States President Obama in his second term, declared the strengthening of the American Chinese relationship to be one of the top agendas. The United States hopes that China will make a greater contribution to resolve the global economic trade crisis.

China-US Economic and Trade Cooperation Symposium aims to offer a platform for closer exchanges and stronger collaborations between business communities in China and the United States, and to strengthen mutually beneficial business cooperation between the two countries. Enterprises from both countries will hopefully seize this opportune moment of industrial restructuring in both countries to accelerate and promote collaboration in emerging sectors such as information technology, real estate, hospitality, biotech and remanufacturing, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the China-US economic and trade cooperation.VIP attendees include Peter Zhang, President of the Sino-American Friendship Association (SAFA); Jason Lin, President of the American Chinese Commerce Development Association (ACCDA); Michael Szenberg, Editor-in-Chief of the American Economist and distinguished professor of Economics and chairman of the Finance and Economics Department at Pace University; Yi Liu, Business Counsel of the Consulate General of the People Republic of China in New York and, Stuart Seldowitz, International Affairs and special Advisor to the Governor.

About 45 Chinese CEOs came from China, including Dong Xiaojun, Deputy Consul General of Consulate General of PRC, who enjoyed meeting American and Chinese business leaders at the VIP Reception & Dinner celebration.
