Chinese Women's Development Foundation Appearance on Time Square Screen

On the International Women’s day, with the support of the Sino-American Friendship Association, the China Women’s Development Foundation (CWDF) has promoted the achievements of women and defended women’s rights with a public service announcement in Times Square, New York. China Women’s Development Foundation dedicates work to improving women’s overall quality, maintaining women’s legal rights, promoting the development of women and women undertakings, and providing relief needs. International Women’s Day is held worldwide to connect women from all different backgrounds to share their achievements and recognize the success of women. The new millennium has shown a drastic change in both women’s and society’s thoughts on how women are perceived. A broadcast of China Women’s Development Foundation airs on the corner of 44th Street and Broadway near the ABC Television station where Good Morning America is filmed. The announcement will be broadcasted from International Women's Day throughout March.

The message plays on the ABC LED SuperSign, which contains three high definition screens, supporting women's rights for everyone visiting the area to see. The screens show an intricate display of work supporting women including “Postal Parcel for Mothers”, which helps deliver packages to mothers with hardships in their life who cannot get access to certain materials, “Health Express for Mothers”, which provides medical treatment for disadvantaged women and children in poverty-stricken areas through vehicles fitted out with medical equipment, and “Water Cellar for Mothers” which builds water cellars in Western China where safe water is not accessible.

The “ Water Cellar for Mothers” specifically is an award-winning project launched by the China Women’s Development Foundation that has benefitted over 1.7 million people in over 8 provinces. This year marks the first year in the 14 year history that they have appointed a goodwill ambassador in Pepsi Co.’s Chief Executive Officer, Indra Nooyi. Indra Nooyi has made constant contributions to the program and long-standing and productive commitments by the entire family of PepsiCo to provide safe water to western China with a $5 million grant committed to the program. She is considered to be one of the most powerful leaders in the business and aligning business goals with society’s needs. In honor of Indra Nooyi’s support, her image is broadcasted on the SuperSign from International Women’s Day throughout March with the China Women’s Development Foundation.
